I have the III plus. The plus was meant to say it can use the blue/black
coils but it will work with the white ones too. These are the same as the
classic id but without the meter. It's a very good detector. Quite, medium
fast, all metal mode, discrimination mode, pinpoint, frequency shift, low
battery indicator. You can ground balance it by pulling a small cap from
bottom and use a small screwdriver.
Runs on 3 9v batteries that last a long time. Detects a quarter at 8" with the 950 coil. Great sniper using the 5.3 coil. You can mount the control box in two spots, one for convenience the other for balance. Whites will repair these still. There are mods you can do to make it better but it's a very good machine as is.

No meter some other md don't have meters. Adjust the discrimination to pick
up nickels and go pick up small metal like bbs. Cost too much used, buy a
new metal detector about the same price with a meter, pp, depth and maybe
what you are digging.
